![]() WBT Systems Expands US Presence with Senior Appointments
Expanding the US Operation Key Focus for new VP
Dublin, Ireland - September 8th, 2004 - WBT Systems, a global leader in Enterprise e-learning Solutions, today announced the recent appointment of Jim Whelan as its new Vice President & General Manager, North American Operations. Whelan will manage the growing US team of sales, pre-sales and marketing resources at the company’s Boston headquarters and at its regional locations in Canada and California. Jim brings with him a wealth of experience in business development and learning technologies in the finance, manufacturing, high tech, telecommunications and healthcare sectors. Before joining WBT, he held senior positions in THINQ Learning Solutions, Superior Consultant Company and Lotus/IBM. The appointment of Whelan is part of WBT’s measured expansion plan for North America. This involves an aggressive focus on the US financial services market where the growing body of regulatory compliance legislation has created a need for robust compliance solutions that can stand up to external audit. WBT Systems is the only e-learning vendor to have invested specifically in targeted solutions for financial services and other regulated industries. Already, Whelan has made a number of senior appointments to the Boston-based team. Michael Brennan, the highly-respected analyst and e-learning industry consultant from IDC, joins WBT Systems as Financial Services Enterprise Consultant. Michael is an industry expert with in-depth knowledge of how companies can derive maximum benefit from e-learning and performance management. Henry Williams also joins to build on the Financial Services industry focus. Henry has a proven track record in working with the financial services industry. He has previously worked with companies such as SABA and Oracle. Deidre Roy has also joined as a key member of the sales team. Formerly, Deidre was a top account manager at THINQ Learning Solutions and has previous experience with Oracle. This is an exciting time for WBT Systems. The company has just won first place at the prestigious HR Technology Excellence Awards for its e-learning suite and it became ICT Company of the Year earlier in the year. It is also the only European vendor to appear in both Gartner Leadership Quadrant reports for its Learning Management System (LMS) and e-Learning Suite. According to Jim Whelan, "WBT’s vision of the market and how e-learning can be leveraged to transform today’s enterprises impressed me enormously. I look forward to working with the rest of the team to aggressively grow the US operation”. “I am delighted to announce these new appointments. Jim and his team have the enthusiasm, the in-depth knowledge of our key markets, the business development skills, and insight to continue our momentum in the North American market. As part of this organic growth strategy, we look forward to continuing to build on our growing presence for WBT in the US”, added Declan Kelly, CEO WBT Systems.
