![]() TopClass Powers Distance Learning Program at Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences
Use of TopClass Mobile has dramatically reduced costs
Dublin, Ireland - October 11th, 2006 - WBT Systems, one of the leading providers of enterprise e-learning solutions, today announced that The Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences, is powering its distance learning program using the award winning TopClass e-Learning Suite. The School’s distance learning program has been validated by their partner institution, The University of Manchester. The Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences is a non government, non-profit making educational institution founded in 1994. The University offers Postgraduate and Masters Degrees in the fields of education, counseling, sociology, law, political science and social work. It was the Faculty of Cultural Management that initially spearheaded the development of the School’s Distance Learning Program. WBT’s TopClass e-Learning Suite was selected from a wide number of LMS providers. TopClass was selected for its flexible and modular style architecture and for the mobile capability and collaborative functionality. Key to the success of the program is the built-in collaborative tools, which are used extensively for moderated discussion groups, and the webmail capability which allows direct one-to-one interactions and can also integrate with standard mail systems. Students and faculty members have a common single space to communicate seamlessly and this helps to overcome distance issues. In addition, the system has been fully translated into the Russian language. According to Alexander Artamonov, Head of IT Services, The Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences, “Using TopClass Mobile, students can continue learning even when a network or internet connection is not available. This enables learning to take place anywhere, at any time and is highly cost effective. From a technical perspective the system is extremely stable and the user support provided by WBT is second to none.” The authoring capability within the TopClass e-Learning Suite is also used extensively at the School. Artamonov says, “TopClass Publisher enables rapid conversion of existing courseware, new course assembly and updating of learning objects using an intuitive drag and drop user interface. It’s a highly effective authoring tool that we couldn’t live without.” About Moscow School of Social and Economic SciencesThe Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences, an independent institution that was founded in 1994, provides intensive one-year training programs in political science, sociology, law, counseling, social work and social management, cultural management, business administration and education management and policy. It also runs an interdisciplinary research program and is assisting the Russian Ministry of Education in its approach to the "Bologna process" of integrating Russia into European-wide system of higher education. The Moscow School (also referred to as "MSSES" or "Moscow School") is a non-profit making institution which is supported by a number of international foundations and organisations. The School is closely allied to the Academy of National Economy of the Government of the Russian Federation which was instrumental in its creation. For more information, see www.msses.ru |
