![]() The Basler Group Extends Use of TopClass to Drive Compliance and Sales Training
Following e-Learning success in the Insurance division, Basler rolls out TopClass to Banking division to power compliance training
Dublin, Ireland - November 8th, 2006 - WBT Systems, one of the leading enterprise e-Learning solution providers, today announced that the Basler Group, top Swiss Insurance provider, has extended its use of the TopClass e-Learning Suite. The Group’s insurance division has been using WBT’s e-Learning solution for sales and IT security training, and based on the success of the learning program, they have rolled the solution out to the banking side of the business. In addition Basler is now using the system to manage its national compliance training needs. Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland and with operations in continental Europe, the Basler Group employs a staff of 8,000. Their core markets are Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Austria and Luxemburg. Basler’s training vision was to provide access to the highest quality education and training, tailored to individual needs, delivered cost-effectively, anywhere and anytime. From the beginning, Basler linked the main aims of the solution to their business needs. By impacting productivity Basler believed they could increase sales and employee retention. According to Georges Bornschlegl, e-Learning Project Manager at the Basler Group, “The benefits of the WBT learning solution were apparent from the early stages of the project with an increase in sales and employee retention and a decrease in training time and expenses. We noticed this new blended learning solution transformed how our employees learned and the speed of learning increased dramatically. It was for this reason that we decided to extend the use of the system to the banking division and expand the course offering to include compliance training.” Changes to the Swiss regulatory framework in January 2006 imposed new restrictions on financial services institutions. The legislation required certification of insurance sales people every two years. This placed an additional training burden on Basler and required them to ensure employees were familiar with new and existing legislation in a range of areas. WBT’s TopClass Compliance Module has provided Basler with a robust, defensible, audit ready compliance training management solution. It ensures continuous compliance by reminding individuals, line managers and compliance officers of upcoming and overdue compliance training obligations. In addition it provides training history reports through a single source of all historic data, current skill levels and future training plans. Today employees at the insurance and banking divisions of the Basler Group are using TopClass for compliance training, sales training and IT security training. The training is being delivered in German, French, and Italian and the reaction to the learning management system has been extremely positive. Learning is now viewed as a process within the Basler Group. According to Paul Dooley, CEO, WBT Systems, “TopClass provides Basler with a powerful blended learning solution that delivers results. We are delighted that the solution has helped Basler to impact productivity and that it provides unprecedented levels of control, tracking and reporting to look after their compliance requirements.” About The Basler Group Headquartered in Basel (Switzerland) and with operations in continental Europe, the Baloise Group is a solution provider in the fields of insurance and pension for the future.
